A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Saving African Youth Dreams Initiative (SAYDi) has inducted 20 young individuals as CEPP change agents in its Civic Enlightenment and Participation Programme (CEPP).

The Executive Director of the organization, Abdulkareem Abdullateef made this known during the induction ceremony in Ilorin, Kwara state.

He said “The program Is a non-governmental one and the CEPP training is a day training aimed to inform the youth about their constitutional right in engaging with their elected representative.

“It equips them with the substantial knowledge needed in the area of political participation, accountability of process, tracking of public funds utilization and how the youths can actively engage in political advocacy that will drive and promote leadership accountability.

“We have started this already and we look forward to doing more in the coming days,” he said.

Furthermore, Abdullateef said, “the program was an eye-opener and fits into the current happening of the country as selected participants are properly educated and enlightened on civic responsibilities and what is expected of them as change agents in their various communities and state thereby bringing changes in all parts of Nigeria as a nation.”

One of the speakers at the event, the Senior Program Officer of MacArthur Foundation, Dr Amina Salihu tasked the participants to make full use of all the knowledge acquired in the training for a better future.

She also urged the organisers to continue educating people on the need to bring such programmes on board continually in Nigeria communities, which will bring the needed change desired.

Other speakers at the event include; Busayo Oluwadamilare Marakinyo, a development professional; Global Director, BBYDI, Abideen Olasupo; Dr Abdullateef Alagbonsi, Founder, Enetsud; and Mauzu Modu, Chief Executive, Spotlight for Transparency and Accountability Initiative.
